The Lourdes story began in 1858 when the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared to Bernadette Soubirous while collecting firewood. As the apparitions became more frequent the number of pilgrims grew and still increases every year, in hope for a cure or spiritual enlightenment.

Today, thousands of people travel to Lourdes to visit the Grotto on a pilgrimage or on a spiritual experience hopping for a cure a renewed commitment and to hear Gods words. There is overwhelming medical evidence that miraculous cures really do take place at Lourdes, so today the church joins and aides pilgrimages to Lourdes and expresses that thoes who undertake him will reap the benefits of spiritual renewal. Just as Mary and Saint Bernadette were both transformed by the power of God's grace. Lourdes is a place filled with love and sorrow and united in communal prayer, worship and wholeness.
